The Challenge
This central Seattle site was plagued with serious drainage problems. The owners wanted a lush but drought tolerant landscape with focus on their sauna, one that would accomodate the crowd at their annual summer neighborhood pig roast.

The Solution
After installing foot drains around the house, the sand-set flagstone patio was sloped toward a decorative drain grate and a drainage swale was installed, doubling as a path. Wine casks serve as rain barrels, collecting storm water from drainspouts.

"My wife and I didn't know what we wanted when we decided to revamp our Columbia City yard, but we knew we wanted something spectacular and unique. After sitting down with Rebecca for an initial brainstorm, we knew we had found the right designer for the job. Every step of the way Rebecca listened to our wants and desires, made expert recommendations when things were unsure, and provided incredible ideas where we had none. Her work went well beyond just designing our landscaping. She not only accompanied us to the rock yard to choose our stone, she had found the perfect boulders for our backyard and reserved them for us in advance. Her ability to understand the look we wanted and make it a reality was uncanny." We can't say enough good things about working with Rebecca. Our house has been transformed." - Brian & Kristin, Seattle
